ACME’s flagship program, ACME Animation (www.acmeanimation.org) is a ten year old educational service linking the professional Hollywood animation industry to middle school, high school and college programs for professional mentorship, peer mentorship, creative and 21st century skills.
Initially conceived to develop student awareness of the professional world, and to channel career aspirations to the creative industries, the program focused on low-income, under-served schools. In the years since, ACME Animation has grown to include a broad spectrum of schools in diverse districts, as well as a varied classroom and student make-up – from English classes, to Digital Media, Social Studies, Science, and Technology classes.
Animation is used as a vehicle to teach 21st century skills, regardless of the talents or career aspirations of the students.
Through the participation of top media/entertainment professionals who are eager to “give back,”including leading companies like Disney, Pixar, Sony and DreamWorks, ACME provides students with hands-on mentorship, instruction, and constructive feedback at the highest level, using student artworks as the centerpiece of the learning process.
